Meet Erika

July 6, 2022

I am so happy you are here at Sown Fields and hope you walk away feeling encouraged and hopeful to face whatever God has put in front of you. He is with you and cares deeply not just about everything you are facing but YOU.

I am currently a mother of two precious boys and Lord willing more to come, living with my husband in Logan, Utah. I grew up in East Texas but have always had a passion for the outdoors so Utah naturally fits the bill. My husband and I moved here as we felt a strong desire to support as well as learn and grow from being part of a church plant. We spend as much time as we can outdoors, in fellowship with church and neighbors, and enjoying the life God has gifted to us. My story, like many others, is full of highs and lows, but what has remained steady is the Lord and His relentless love and faithfulness.

Putting pen to paper to write an ” about me” is not as easy as it sounds. It would be much easier to sit here and tell you all the surface level things about myself such as how much I love painting. I thought I was a decent cook until my husband’s culinary skills put me to shame. I usually read the middle or end of a book before I read the beginning. But that’s not really why I am here. I am here to walk in the light as Jesus calls us to in John 3. This looks different for believers in certain seasons, but for me right now it means blogging, journaling, and sharing with you all the different parts of my story and what the Lord has taught me. Being vulnerable without worrying about my reputation.

I have recently come to a place of acceptance of some hard events in my life. I have at moments felt broken beyond repair. I have felt hopeless and grappled with the Lord over His plans and purposes for my life time and time again. Haven’t we all?

My prayer is that the words I share will encourage you to let Christ’s healing hands into the deepest parts of yourself. It will hurt. It won’t always be easy. Every single one of us is probably facing some circumstance right now that we wish would change or disappear. Let me assure you God’s grace and mercies are enough for what you are facing.

Take it one day at a time.

We will be sharing bits and pieces of our stories more practically in our weekly posts, but for now, I hope this encourages you today- wherever you are at. 💕
